Louboutin Retrospectic

Back In July, I visited the iconic French shoe designer christian Louboutin's first retrospective at the Design Museum. The exhibition celebrates Louboutin's career showcasing the twenty years of design and inspiration, revealing the artisyty and theatricality of his shoe design from stilettos to lace-up boots, studded sneakers and bejewlled pumps. Be taken on a magical journey of style, glamour, femininity and elegance.

I love the wall where all the shoe moulds were hung, as I'd never see how they actually make shoes and the sizing of them. I Also loved seeing his actual sketches, which look similar to the logo of the retrospetive. He has such a nice curve about his sketching. There was also a room called the Fetish room, which featured more x-rated photography of his more outrageous shoes.

As part of the retrospective, they had a 3D holographic film of Dita Von Teese where she morphs into a Louboutin shoe herself every 15 minutes. The video is done by Musion, the world leaders in holographic projection.

The exhibition ran from May 1st till July 9th so unfortunately you can't go anymore but if you were lucky enough it was a fabulous set up of the history of his work.
